    Baris - Waco, Texas

How the heck does Baris stay in business? The portions are more than just generous, they're huge. The prices are too good to be true.

After dining here, it was obvious why Baris has a lot of great reviews on Yelp and why they're in business. The food is great, the prices are more than just fair, and the portions are awesome. I was undecided when I first looked at the menu. There are so many choices. I started to look around to see what everyone else was ordered. Their chicken parmigiana, the lasagna, pastas, and pizzas all looked delicious. Everything smelled good too. The aroma of marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese in the air was music to my nose. I decided on the Baris salad with about 8 oz. of chicken breast, fried mozzarella, and a side of meatballs. My wife got the chicken parmigiana and pasta. Everything that we got was delicious. My salad was so big that I didn't even finish it. It was big enough to serve 4. My wife's dish was hooked up and being the good husband that I am, I helped her finish the rest of her chicken parmigiana. Service started out well. We were seated right away, and our orders were taken without a wait. Baris is popular out here and it began to get very crowded. Our server was attentive in the beginning, but after a while she just got busy. Overall, I'm a fan. I arrived starving and left happy & stuffed.

I love Baris! The service is always great! The host makes you feel like family and the food is out of this world!

  • *****

Great food. Big portions. An pretty good on the prices. We come here when we are in the area

The pasta here was cooked thoroughly and did not have a trash bag aftertaste. If you like your pasta crispy and laced with plastic, this is not the restaurant for you. Their strict adherence to ServSafe policy as well as their A+ from the Department of Health really hinder their ability to provide adequate dry trash pasta. I would only recommend Baris to those that like a supple pasta complimented with the flavors of fresh and edible food.

Wow what an amazing spot! The rolls they bring before the meal are fantastic. I had the chicken parm and it was delicious! My friend has been coming for years and she got the aristocrat, which I also tried and the sauce was just unbelievable. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for good affordable Italian food.

Food was great. I had a slice of pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. I expected to be able to order wine with my food but it was BYOB. Service started off great, but it was hard to get accommodation throughout the rest of the stay. It was also sad to find out that most of the appetizers and deserts were not homemade.

It's hard to find authentic family style Italian but Baris has been a frequent go-to restaurant. Authentic. Inexpensive. Family style service and portions. Unassuming exterior/interior. Cannot order alcohol from their menu, but you can bring your own. Parking is a little rough but wouldn't deduct a star for it. The Murphy dish is a repeat cause it's so delicious!

Great Italian restaurant very good service friendly and delicious food highly recommended by me hotel F&B mgmt

The rolls and pink sauce are awesome!!! Had the Dee's Special - fabulous!! Service was great. Will definitely come back next time in Waco.

Mama mi, Hell of a place to go if you're looking for good Italian food at a good price. It reminds me of one of those old Italian places where monsters go to conduct business. It has a real genuine feeling to it.

The owner there is a real nice lady. I've met her a few times and she always wants to know how your visit was. It makes you feel good that Baris is one of those places that is willing to make something right if it wasn't up to par.

The only bad thing is parking. Their parking lott is a mess. People will park behind you and you're so closed in at times. Other then that. It's a great place for lunch and or dinner. ;)

  • *****

Fresh ingredients and authentic Italian food made fresh! Prices are also more affordable than any restaurant I've been to! We'll definitely be back.

We ordered the aristocrat and split it... it may be the best Italian meal I've ever had, including the 4 months I spent in Italy.

The waitress was lovely and sweet too! (Ilia - I think)

  • *****

The food was amazing! I suggest you try the pink sauce, the pricea are within budget a the waitress was awesome

This place is so great! BYOB :)

Huge portions with all the sauce! Highly recommend their garlic bread, it's amazing!!!

Who says your can't find delicious Italian food in the middle of Texas? They have probably never been to Baris. My favorite in college was a slice of chicken and pineapple pizza with a side salad. You can definitely afford it on a college budget :) Sometimes the servers were rude, but it was more endearing than offensive.

  • *****

Best Italian food in Waco. I get a calzone with a side of fettuccine Alfredo! I eat off of it for 2 days and it's about $11 dollars total. Such a great spot for college kids who don't have a bunch of money! The lady who owns it is a sweetheart too!

Everyone NEEDS to go here. This place is a little slice of heaven. We are so happy we visited on our shirt trip to Waco. Their pink sauce is phenomenal and their hot, fresh bread is to die for. And very reasonably priced.

  • *****

This gem is amazing! It was extremely busy when we went for dinner Friday night but we got a table in less then 15 minutes. The five of us each got something different and it was all really good. The price was ridiculously good as for the amount of food we got. Three people had a full meal of leftovers.

  • *****

This is THE place for true, authentic Italian cuisine. No freezer food here! Wonderful place to go.

  • *****

The food is good here. I recommend the pizza, the pink sauce, the calamari, and homemade rolls. Really everything is good here. The only reason I gave it a four star rating instead of a five star, I do so love the smaller home grown restaurants, is the poor Ventilation, it needs to be updated. It gets very hard to breathe sometimes if you're eating in. Problem solved, order takeout.

I love this place! I discovered Baris over 10 years ago, when I was a student at Baylor. As a native NY, I wasn't too sure if I wanted to try this place. But I'm so glad I did. This was my spot every time I got homesick. The food is delicious and you can't beat the prices. My go-to-meal is the baked ziti Neapolitan! I

was driving through Waco last night, and my boyfriend and I stopped for dinner. He was so pleased with the food and customer service. I recommend this place to everyone I know and I stop by whenever I'm in town. The rolls, calzone, chicken parm, and fried ravioli's are great! Parking situation isn't the best, but there is a sign inside of where else you can park. The owner is usually always onsite. I love this Mom and Pop place and it still reminds me of Home!

  • *****

The food was fabulous! I would have given a five star but the service took too long. We we're at our table for 10 minutes, no service, not even a drink order. When the service did come it was good. Worth a try.

  • *****

Took my son, a student at Baylor, here last night for dinner before my wife and I returned home. Reminds me of a family style restaurant in North Beach (San Francisco) and that's a good thing. Highly recommend any pasta dishes with pink sauce. Giant bread rolls were literally right out of the oven and "yummy". We heard about "BYOB" so we walked in with a favorite bottle of wine and they happily served it to us at our table.

  • *****

The food here is tasty! This is one of my favorite places to eat in Waco. It is not a "fine dining" experience and instead has a cafe feel, which I prefer. I have had somewhat better tasting Italian meals, but Baris offers substantially larger proportions than most other ritzier excellent Italian restaurants. We almost always have to take leftovers home and the wait staff has been kind enough to give us hints on how to reheat the food (e.g., with some dishes good to warm in skillet rather than microwave due to creams and oils etc). Try their deserts!

  • *****

Good Italian food and for a good price! The pink sauce is good and fun to try. I had the sampler with 3 different pastas and I was very full after. They provide rolls during your meal but not before. I was not impressed with the spaghetti kid's meal plate as it did not have much sauce.

  • *****

The food here was great! I had the Cheese Ravioli with the (AMAZING) Pink Sauce, and I enjoyed it more than most ravioli that I've had. The salad was also delicious, and the house sauce was great. Lastly, the rolls were amazing! They were nice and fresh, and tasted great when dipped in the Pink Sauce. The one thing that was a problem was the tiny parking lot, but other than that, it was a great experience.

  • *****

Love the food at Mama Baris'! Had a new dish with grilled chicken and a pink sauce. That pink sauce is to die for! So delicious! The chicken was overcooked and tough, but the sauce was so good I didn't even mind. My favorite Italian restaurant.

  • *****

Food was good, not great. Fantastic prices, I recommend anything that has eggplant in it. Bread is amazing. Place is dated and isn't the cleanest, but in my opinion, doesn't take away from the experience. Good service. I would definitely come again.

  • *****

THE PINK SAUCE! If you come here and don't try the pink sauce then i don't know what you are doing with your life. YOU NEED THE PINK SAUCE IN YOUR LIFE. Came here with a group of friends and 3 of 5 of us ordered Dee's special with pink sauce and it was the best decision we ever made because it was DELICIOUS! The melty mozzarella cheese and the meaty marinara with creamy pink sauce, need I say more? The massive garlic bread rolls that you get before your food are tasty as well, but make sure you don't fill up on those rolls or you won't have any room for your delicious pasta. Yes, as everyone has pointed out, the parking situation is less than desirable but I would deal with it every day if it meant I could eat Dee's special with pink sauce. Give this place a try because it's a relaxed atmosphere with obscenely affordable and delicious food.

Was in town with my wife on our anniversary and we were looking for a place to eat on a Sunday night that wasn't a chain. I am so glad we found this place. The atmosphere was quaint. The staff was friendly, and service was great. The food was fantastic AND it had portions big enough to satisfy this fat boy.

    Highly recommend.

Great homemade Italian food. Big portions, great prices. Staff was friendly and attentive.

Great dinner prior to the Waco Triathlon! Huge portions of Pasta for $6.50. Nothing fancy, but tasty Italian at a fantastic price. Bread was hot and fresh too!

My best friend and I were up in Waco from Houston for the Tri Waco Olympic distance triathlon over the weekend. My friend found this place the night before the triathlon so we decided to go check it out. Perfect little hole-in-the-wall place. You walk in the front door and the place reeks with the Fantastic smells of what you would imagine and authentic Italian Kitchen what smell like! The bread rolls are served on paper plates. The roles are nice and tasty. My friend and I both had the Dee's Special. I was expecting a small portion the food but when it came out, it was a nice large portion. The baked pasta was extremely delicious and full of flavor. The meat had a very seasoned flavor and the sauce was terrific. I had an iced tea. The cup was so big that they should give you a discount on your meal if you're lucky enough to finish the drink in one setting. The service was okay. Not bad but not over-the-top. Next time we're in Waco for the Waco half Ironman Triathlon, this is definitely the place we're going to carb up the night before.

The food is outstanding, the parking and environment are a bit tight. Baris has great Italian food and as a Seattle girl I was pleased with their shrimp. However the parking is a nightmare. It's tight, as is I'm not sure I'll make it between these two cars without scraping something. Once inside it's packed again. The tables as so close it's easy to rub elbows with the next table. However their food makes it worth it. Everyone raves about the pink sauce and with good reason. Its a perfect blend of seasoning, tomatoes and cream. The homemade rolls are with the trip alone. The food gets a perfect score but the nightmare parking and cramped dinning takes it down a star.

Hands down BEST SPOT IN TOWN!!! We went for the first time being new to the area and immediately claimed it as our new go to spot! Every single thing we ordered was amazing! The prices are phenomenal! Everyone working was pleasant and helpful! You can tell they have a true team environment. We cant wait to try out the rest of the menu! So glad we gave it a shot!!

  • *****

Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing prices. Places like this are few and far between. We were blown away! I highly suggest the Dee’s Special with pink sauce. Tyler was an amazing waiter, request him for an awesome experience.

As a budding foodie I have eaten at many Italian restaurants. Most have taken the position that they have to create Italian with at "twist". Sometimes though I don't want a "twist" I just want some good comfort Italian food like mom made. If you share this feeling then head to Baris for a solid basic Italian meal. The location is off Valley View Dr in Waco TX so you will have to drive past the million chain restaurant to find this small non-descriptive building. WARNING: the parking is very limited and the lot on the right side of the building butts up to a ravine with no...yes no guard rail! The parking is my only complaint. I enjoy getting the lasagna which is served in a boat plate with tons of cheese...not fancy cheese that I can't pronounce, just mozzarella. Dinner rolls come with the pasta which are good but I prefer to pay the couple of bucks for the hot baked french bread. There is no wine or alcohol at Baris but you can BYOB! and the down home family style atmosphere is a nice change from all the "inspired" restaurants that are out there. Thanks for staying true to the basics. I'll be back for sure.

Mama Mia Mama Baris! For over twenty years you have served our family with the best service & best authentic Italian Food, with kindness & perfection.
This is why you are always packed & the wait is always more than worth it.

I never understand people who stand in line then complain about the wait. But here, to complain, when the wait is more than worth it. BRUH? I Sit & watch in amazement as your staff works so hard to make each customers experience the very best it can be. I have never watched one of your staff members texting or speaking on their wireless cell phones. This means a lot to families like us who are raising children to be respectable and productive.

Now for the good stuff. This place is popping over the top shut the front and back door fantastic.

Who wouldn't fall in love with hot, fresh, huge Italian rolls? Then more mega rolls when your food arrives and the aromas that we have been experiencing since the moment we walked through your door become personal. Each fresh made Italian dish is sat in front of us, OMG! The six of us fight for another hot fresh roll so we can baste it with the sauce as we divulge eating your creations and then take a bite of our now sauced roll, heaven. From the house dressing on our salads, to the last bite of what we ordered. Also, so much food we always take some home!

We have tried every dish & there has never been an exception to the, I love it!

Yes, if they are open there most likely will be a wait. Yes the parking is tough. Yes it is more than worth it. Here, at Mama Baris on valley Mills drive, you will not be disappointed as long as you are patient & understanding. Each dish is made with fresh healthy ingredients & cooked fresh to order. Then delivered with kindness. Not many places operate this way today. If you watch you will see Mama Baris overlooking & instructing her staff as they create relationships with her customers and serve every order. She works for what she has created.

Real chef craftsmanship from a locally run and operated family restaurant. Cooked and served from chef and crew operating under old time rules, "do everything to treat my customers with the very best"! All under her care. She busts her behind and is part of every dish delivered in some way. She even cleans off tables for the next bunch to be seated.

This is all a big deal for me. This is also why we tend to stay away from chain restaurants for the most part. Full of preservatives and fillers, even sometimes Frozen, unhealthy food. Plus I have been to very few chain restaurants where I have not seen a staff member using their cell phone then touching food being delivered to its customer.

Let the goods times roll Mama B!

Not much parking. Staff nice. Good waiter. Fried mushrooms over cooked for my taste, but still good. Red sauce was good but I would prefer it to bit a bit more spicy. Meatballs didn't have much flavor but were OK. Lasagne was very good. Bread good but nothing special. Cheese tortalini with pink sauce very cheesy and hurt stomach a little later.

  • *****

Talk about value! Granted it would be totally awesome if there was more parking but I forgave them today because of how tasty my dish was. I got a chicken aristocrat and I smacked my lips all the way out of the door to my ride. I would say about 75% of the dishes are less than $10 which is great if you have a large party for dinner. Oh yeah, it's also BYOB so bring your favorite wine. I'm also a fan of the French bread with the olive oil prepared on the side. If you come and visit Waco, be sure to check it out!

  • *****

I flew to Texas to celebrate my best friend's birthday. We had a big dinner here for 11 people. The food was amazing. Italian food that was perfect! The service was good. The price though was the best. I paid for everyone's meals as a birthday gift and it was an amazing deal. Around $80 for 11 people. Go here and eat. You will be glad you did!

  • *****

The food was great!! I had the pasta sampler and my husband had the lasagna! It came out very hot, we also had the fried mozzarella sticks with marinara, the sauce was excellent. We also ordered a side order of Italian sausages and they was very yummy. The staff was very nice!! But, the restaurant and the restroom needed to be deep cleaned and I saw a couple of big big! Bugs!!

Amazing food for a great price! My fianc and I were driving back home to Austin from a cycling race in Oklahoma and stopped here for a quick bite to eat. Easily one of the best Italian places we've eaten at (and we've eaten a lot lol)! He had the spaghetti with Italian sausage and it was tangy and delicious sauce on top of perfect al dente noodles. I had the Murphy dinner special which was a perfect blend of spices, peppers, artichokes and sauce! Seriously, usually I have to add pepper to most dishes I get from restaurants but this was perfect as is. The portions are nice size and even though we live in Austin we both decided to take our leftovers with us.
I'm looking forward to the next cycling event in (or that takes us through) Waco so we have another reason to come here and eat!

Good food - HORRIBLE parking. Family style restaurant. Casual dress. Eggplant Parmesan was good. Serving staff were friendly, knew menu and could make suggestions.

Best Italian restaurant in town! Our "go to" Italian restaurant, not a bad meal in the place! Most authentic Philly Cheese steak in town! Great food and great service. Mary said she will never close. I'm going to hold her to that.

  • *****

    Good, and affordable
I personally think the food is very authentic italian, and every bit as good as Olive Garden, for a more affordable price. the atmosphere of the place is great as well.

  • *****

    Great food
This is such a great place. Love the family atmosphere. Mary is the best! Can't live without the rolls. I recommend this place for anyone. Especially out of townees coming to visit.

  • *****

The best food in Waco, Texas!
I went with my grandmother on the weekend of Christmas. I got the "Shrimp and Chicken Alfradeo." It was just wonderful. The sauce was the best I have tasted in a long time. The my grandmother had the eggplant parmesian. She said it was the best she has every had in her life. I recommen the place for anyone who loves italian food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • *****

A really cheap BYOB mom and pop Italian place! The baked tortellini with pink sauce is by far my favorite! Anything with pink sauce is worth trying! Pizza is great too! Nothing fancy or upscale just a little local Italian!

  • *****

Baris is my favorite Italian restaurant to eat in Waco. I think the price is good and they give good portions. Everything I have tasted there is good including the rolls. The owners are nice and friendly also. The interior isn't new or anything, but it's clean.

  • *****

This place is a staple for Waco and Baylor students, and it's easy to see why: good (Texas-style) Italian food with decent prices. The staff is friendly and super attentive. The one downside is the parking. When going for dinner, we usually end up parking about a block away as their parking lot (if you can call it that) is minuscule and difficult to get in and out of.

  • *****

Tried the fried cheese and it rocked. I had the Aristocrats and it was amazing. A cream sauce with a touch of marinara, eggplant, shrimp and chicken on spaghetti, Their rolls were the perfect accompaniment to the excess of sauce on my dish. My boyfriend had the pasta sampler, consisting of cannelloni, lasagna, and a third kind of baked pasta, manicotti perhaps, and he ate all of it in ecstasy. My server was awesome and the cashier who seemed to have been either the owner or the owner's mother was super sweet. I will come back to Waco just for this place. Well, that and my boyfriend. Teehee.

  • *****

This is my kind of Italian. Wonderful spaghetti and meatballs at a super price. Eat here on your next trip to Waco my friends, you'll not be disappointed.

  • *****

Incredible! I have been a couple of times and each has been wonderful. Love the alfredo sauce and garlic bread.

  • *****

Best Italian in Waco. Friendly, family feel!

  • *****

This is my favorite place when I come to Waco. I always have to stop here because the food is so amazing. Its low priced and the staff is really friendly. What makes this place stand out is everything is made from scratch to give the food extra taste as well as the homestyle feel you get when you walk through the doors.

  • *****

This place isn't the best Italian food in the world but it sure is the best Italian food in Waco! The prices are insanely low (entrees starting at $5) and the food is always piping hot and yummy. This is a great place to satisfy your craving for Italian on any day. The lunch specials are about $5, include a salad, and are always delicious. The only thing to watch out for is parking. The lot is tiny so be careful when getting in on the weekend.

  • *****

This place is one of the best places in Waco for pizza. My friends say that I'm weird whenever I order a Hawaiian pizza (canadian bacon & pineapple), but I don't care... Baris makes it so tasty, I can't resist! (You should try it.) This place has a great staff, reasonable prices, and a ton of options to pick off the menu. Personally, I've tried the pizza, calamari, grilled chicken with a side of veggies, the spaghetti & meatballs, the calzone, the salad, & much more & every single thing was awesome! I love having multiple options to choose from because I go here so much. Also, if you go in right when they're closing, they'll still welcome you on in. They're definitely my favorite local restaurant in Waco!

  • *****

Me and my wife like going here. It's a little hole in the wall Italian place owned by a little Italian woman. Very good food and friendly service along. The chicken parm is great, calamari crispy. Very good place if you have the time...be warned BYOB!

  • *****

I've been here countless times in the last several years and am never disappointed. Friendly staff, good prices, and an insane amount of menu items. Make sure you ask for the rolls to go along with your meal, they are something to behold! They also serve your soda in a nice big glass which is great for a Dr. Pepper addict like myself. I also come here a lot with a big church group and even if we show up kinda late, they always welcome you in. I give this place 5 out of 5 pizzas!

  • *****

The best Italian restaurant ever. They have the most delicious bread that comes with the meal and the best sun dried tomato house dressing. We always buy our dressing here which is only $3 per bottle. Try Baris salad. You won't regret. Always great service and I love going there for lunch special as well. It's a BYOW place.

  • *****

I love it. Baris is delicious. When i was going to school near here,I used to eat lunch here several times a week. The prices are amazingly cheap. I can eat lunch here for less than $5. Mama Baris is so nice and always very welcoming and friendly. The only problem is the parking- small parking lot and its always full. But that's a small problem considering the amazing food. Just come at a less busy time.. I usually try to come for dinner at around 5, and it's less busy!

  • *****

Actually pretty good! Just moved from the Houston area and this is one of the best places we have eaten in/around the Waco area.

Best Italian place for the price! Their pink sauce is something I always come back for. But, their service is a little slow but it never stops me from coming back

  • *****

Bari's is a great Italian restaurant if you're on a budget! As a college student, I enjoy coming and getting a nice meal at Bari's for under $12. I always get the Chicken Parm. Nothing over the top fancy, just good ole Italian food. Every table gets a basket of huge rolls which are pretty good. Like I said, don't come Here thinking you're getting an Olive Garden meal, but it's also a step up from Fazoli's.

  • *****

It's a little forlorn and run-down looking on the outside, but then so is most of Waco. The food is pretty good and very cheaply priced. It's not the best Italian restaurant that I've ever been to, but it's a great option for lunch. Calzones and pizzas are excellent. Recommended!

  • *****

The absolute BEST Italian I've had. Very small, cozy, mom-and-pop restaurant. Everything is fresh and has that homemade taste and feel to it. The servers are nice-- and it is BYOB which I like because I usually stop by the liquor store on my way over to the restaurant, grab a nice bottle of wine and enjoy a great meal with it. The prices are extremely cheap too. Sometimes it can get pretty crowded but ive never really had to wait to get seated. May I suggest the chicken Alfredo?! It's delish!!!!

  • *****

Mama Baris has really made something wonderful here. The food is fresh and classic, and the price is very low--- you can get an excellent meal for less than ten bucks and more than enough to take home with you for leftovers. Huge fresh garlic rolls. The pizza and pasta are all fantastic. Salads are nothing special but who goes to an italian place for salads? It's BYOB so feel free to bring a nice bottle of wine with you. Homey family atmosphere and the owner knows us by name every time we come in and asks about our family. The best Italian in Waco by far.

  • *****

Such a good meal for a great price! Even better than the food is the service, our waitress was amazing. You could tell she really cared about our dining experience. Overall, will definitely be back!

  • *****

Best food by far that we have had in Waco. No this place is not an upscale restaurant. No you don't receive way too much food. It is a perfect amount and at an extremely low price. The only thing that bothered us was the seating and noise but that is expected.

  • *****

My favorite restaurant in Waco. The chicken florentine is incredible. I order the salad just to eat their homemade tomato vinaigrette dressing. I always end up with leftovers, so the already cheap meal can be stretched into two meals. This place never disappoints.

  • *****

Probably the best italian in town. Great rolls. One of the few cannoli worth eating in the south.

  • *****

Really good italian food. Incredible for the price. The pizza is good, but the pasta is outstanding. I could eat here every week.

  • *****

100 - year old recipes, homemade bread, homemade dough, and homemade rolls! WACO'S signature Italian restaurant.

  • *****

Baris is best described as Italian comfort food. This is one of my favorite places to eat here in Waco. Service is friendly and generally quick. The portions are generous and yet not expensive. The atmosphere is very relaxed. And it's BYOB so it's great for entertaining a large group on a budget. My favorite menu item is chicken Murphy but I've always been satisfied with my food. I love the fact that they serve their drinks in huge cups so you're never out of soda or tea. If you're looking for fairly quick delicious food Baris is the place

  • *****

We went to the Cameron Park Zoo today with the grandkids and afterwards we went to Bari's. We got the Hawaiian pizza and a large Bari's special pizza with all meats on it. The daughter got the spaghetti with meat sauce and the garlic bread. Everything was delicious. Very very reasonable on price and good portions. Would recommend that you go by and treat yourself to some great pizza and Italian food. Very nice place. The daughter said it beats Olive Garden and any commercial pizza parlor.

  • *****

Always awesome, Baris has never disappointed me. The pizza is always freshly made, pasta homemade and cooked perfectly. The Baris salad is always fresh and the homemade tomato vinagrette is so tasty! Get pink sauce with the rolls and take a few bottles of wine in to enjoy with dinner. Although it can get a bit busy and slow, the service is always friendly and the owners are always present walking around checking on customers. In a town with very few good non-chain restaurants this authentic Italian pizza and pasta is a diamond in the rough. Yay, Baris!

  • *****

I may be bias, writing this review as a college grad on a budget, but Baris is tops for me! Huge slap-your-mama-good portions that arrive in hot saucers and vintage-y plates for wallet-friendly prices.

It's BYOB, so bring your favorite bottle of bubbly. The inside is dated, but I prefer to consider it quaint. Even the red duct tape holding together a worn out maroon booth in the corner somehow works and adds to the charm. The staff is sweet as that $3.50 slice of chocolate cake (a recent addition to the menu).

This was also one of my first outside-of-the-Baylor-bubble restaurants to dine as a freshman at Baylor. I was pleasantly surprised then, and I'm still pleased when I eat there. Lasagna, Pasta Sampler, Chicken Parmesan...all good choices. Avoid the Calzone.

Mary is a food genius. I have yet to try something on the menu that is not mouth watering. All of her food is made fresh daily with bold authentic Italian flavors. The prices are perfect and it is byob. The Philly cheesesteak is my favorite. It is tender, made with New York pollio cheese, and is huge. She ensures her noodles and sauce have no msg. You feel like your visiting family!

  • *****

Real deal no b.s. Italian food. Consistently fantastic food. Good luck finding a spot to park.

  • *****

Good and cheap! Doesn't get much better than that. Also, they are open fairly late and that's nice for people like me who tend to get around to eating dinner a little late some nights. And they do take out as well.

  • *****

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Waco. After moving away, the first place to eat on a Christmas visit to Waco was Baris. I used to go a few times every month with a group. It's inexpensive and delicious. My favorite is Aristocrat or anything else with pink sauce.

  • *****

The food isn't out of this world great, but it's hard to go wrong with Italian. The prices are awesome and you get large portions. Definitely be aware of the time of day youre going so you can avoid the worst crowds. It's loud and jam packed, and parking is a nightmare!

  • *****

I've been here 3 times. Each time they were packed and there was no parking. The food is the best! Small tables inside and it can get loud when it's crowded. I'll go here every time I'm in Waco. Love the Calzones..

  • *****

Hubby and I and our friends go to Baris at least twice a month. Sometimes once a week. Great food, great prices, big portions, friendly service, and locally owned. We love mama Baris (Mary) and the family. Check it out and try the Baris salad with chicken!

  • *****

When I think of this place, I have the anti-pasta salad on my mind with the house dressing, rolls, and the great service. The food is quite filling and you will want more but have no room. I have brought family there, I have brought study groups there in the off hours, and it's been wonderful for both. Parking can be tricky on Friday and Saturday nights so get their early, the lot fills up quick.

  • *****

Great food at a great price. Love the calazone. Service is iffy so lost a star. Great lunch special for 6 bucks.

  • *****

I came here because of the Yelp ratings and I must say that I so agreed with most people. Although the place is about to fall apart and the decorations does not fall under "modern type", the food is super. It really needs a lift, but that's just me since I do care about the appearance of the places I visit.

But let me tell you that I had an awesome Calzoni, and my co workers had the lunch specials (every day they have a different special) that were very worth trying. The waiter was a sweetheart and very welcoming. Now, the lady up front, who ended up ringing our bill was a bit rude. Maybe she was having a bad day, but the way that she was talking to us was kind of like "pay and go away".

Still we laughed it off and went with our day. Regardless of the appearance and the lady up front, we were satisfy with the food and out waiter. Buen apetito.

  • *****

Best Italian in Waco. Full disclosure, I got what I'm sure was a very mild case of food poisoning here once (I think from an undercooked meatball) but I had no problem going back, as I was sure it was a fluke, and the food is delicious. I never had another problem here. The portions are great, it's dirt cheap, and the BYOB can save you a lot. Parking is a pain in the ass, as there are almost no spaces, and depending on the line, you might have to wait for a while. Otherwise, fantastic.

  • *****

Food is amazing. Service is great! They are always extremely busy. Older place, but totally worth it.

  • *****

I searched for a place while traveling and love going to local restaurants. This place was rated high and it said the pick sauce was amazing. We ordered cheese garlic bread and PINK SAUCE and then we got their rolls by mistake. The rolls were a happy accident! The garlic bread was good but those rolls with the pink sauce...amazing!! I skipped my last slice of pizza to enjoy another roll. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. The pizza was good as well. Reasonable priced as well. I highly recommend.

  • *****

The homemade ranch, bread, and chicken parm are delicious. Staff is friendly and offers great service. Good family atmosphere. The prices are very reasonable.

  • *****

Great service, great food, great prices. We had 16 people in our party and they went out of their way to accommodate us. Everyone loved the food, even the picky kids.

  • *****

Excellent food at great prices. Homemade sauces compliment the giant homemade yeast rolls. So many delicious items on the menu it was hard to choose. Lunch special of the pasta trio included full portions of all 3 pastas, salad and rolls for $6.50. Shrimp parmigiana for $12 had 10 shrimp. Highly recommend and will return.

  • *****

You can't beat it for quality or price. Their eggplant dishes are incredible. Bring your own wine.

  • *****

One of the best Italian places I've been to! I recently visited Waco and used Yelp to find recommended places to eat since I'm not from the area. This place did not disappoint! I ordered a margarita pizza and the waitress talked me into trying one of their famous pasta dishes as well - I'm so glad she did, because it was delicious! The place was totally packed, so parking was difficult, but the food was phenomenal and the staff made me feel right at home. HIGHLY recommend this place!!

  • *****

I love this place! The lady who owns it is always so nice to me and my family! Great food! Great prices! Great everything!! I love this place!

  • *****

Homemade Italian food!! Family owned and run business. It may sound a bit much but everything on the menu is GREAT!!! Their huge fresh made rolls and pink sauce go together perfectly for an appetizer! The have a byob policy which I think is pretty neat.. And they also serve big red on fountain which is a major plus in my book!! (You'll never eat Olive Garden again)

  • *****

Great Italian food for a great price! Very friendly staff and can handle large group easily! I will be back soon!!!

  • *****

Awesome food!!! A bit of a wait to be seated and it was very warm inside. The pink sauce and garlic rolls are awesome!! Pizza was average, but pasta was very very good!!

  • *****

Delicious chicken florentine! Portions are large. House dressing is very good. My companions had diavolo and spaghetti with sausage and meat sauce both dishes very good. Rolls are homemade.

  • *****

My favorite pasta place in town! Everything here is good. Restaurant could use a deep clean, though.

  • *****

Baris is the BEST Italian food in Central Texas! The red sauce is amazing! The service is great. BYoB is a nice touch. Calzones, pasta, rolls, salads are so good!!!! Affordable prices!!!

  • *****

This place is pretty good I wouldn't mind dining here again when I'm in Waco. The waitress and hostess were really nice ladies. I say five stars for the service and four for the yummy food.

  • *****

We were looking for a Italian place in Waco and this looked good according to yelp. This is a locally owned restaurant that had solid Italian food. Don't expect high end quality but it was very good when you consider the price.

We ordered a couple of slices of the Everything pizza, a dish of baked tortellini, their pasta sampler, and a couple of salads. The place was packed at the time so we were wondering about how long it would take. The waitress helped us quickly and our food was there at no time at all. Dinner was served with freshly baked rolls which are huge and good. For dessert we ordered a cannoli. All of it was good but we especially enjoyed the tomato based house salad dressing. It definitely seemed like it was home made, along with everything else we tried. If we are in Waco again looking for Italian, we will visit here again.

One thing to note if you enjoy wine with your Italian, the restaurant serves no alcohol but is BYOB.

  • *****

LOVE Baris!!! Been going here my entire life! My work always has our Christmas parties & most of our bday parties there! Mary is amazing and all about her restaurant!

  • *****

Amazing food, BYOB, and decent service each time I go. Highly recommend the pizza and the large salad with their house dressing.

  • *****

The place itself is nothing special but the food is out of this world. The rolls are heavenly and the cal zones are the size of a small puppy. Great Waco hidden treasure.

  • *****

We are new to waco and wanted to find a good place for italian and this is it!! The portions were huge, our waitress was very helpful and attentive even during the dinner rush, and our food was very tasty!! We are looking forward to going back to try more dishes. The prices are so reasonable i dont think i could make the dishes at home for what they charge. We will definitely be back soon!

  • *****

I love eating at this place. The food always taste great and the atmosphere is great. The staff is super friendly. They have really affordable prices and you have to try their pink sauce and house dressing you'll love it!

  • *****

I have been dining at baris since I was a little girl! It is still my most favorite Italian restaurant to go to. The food is always delicious and the staff is always friendly. The owner Mary is also so sweet she acknowledges me every time and makes sure she has asks how my parents are doing. She doesn't just see people as customers but as friends and always makes sure you have a great experience.

  • *****

We started coming here when my daughter was a freshman at Baylor, she is now a junior and our son is a freshman. Excellent food! Excellent service! They give you large portions so we always have leftovers. My husband & son say the pizza & the chicken fettuccine Alfredo is the bomb. My father says that the calzone was the best he has eaten in s long time (very big man who is always eating). My daughter always gets something with shrimp and had this dish yesterday with artichoke hearts -she said it was awesome. I always get the eggplant parmigiana (I am a strict vegetarian with food allergies) And I have always been able to find something to eat here. We will continue to recommend and will be back for every Waco visit. Gets REALLY crowded on game weekends and parents weekends but is VERY worth it! Ramona is the sweetest with the best customer service skills. She even explains to my son how to heat his left overs in the oven and Not the microwave.

  • *****

Doesn't get any better than baked cheese tortellini with a side of Alfredo to dip it in. It is my favorite Italian dish in town! My kids love the pizza and calzones too. The daily lunch specials are a great deal, including a side salad.

If parking was easier to obtain, we'd go here much more often.

  • *****

Amazing place. Great food, great staff, adorable restaurant, and very well priced! My favorite restaurant in Waco

  • *****

The food here seemed pretty authentic and homemade. The standard drink size was larger than expected. Parking is a bit of a pain, but once you get inside the service more than makes up for it! Their service was Grade A, second-to-none!!

  • *****

A waco institution. It's not fancy by any means but the food is delicious and it's a great place to relax for a casual and tasty dinner. Try the Sausage and Peppers Pasta with the Pink Sauce and don't forget to bring your own bottle of wine or a six pack for no extra charge!

  • *****

I can't believe that I haven't reviewed this place yet.

This is a place I love to stop at anytime I am driving through Waco. I learned of this place a few years back on my way to see my beloved Oklahoma Sooners beat down the Baylor bears. Went here after the game and loved it. At the time I wished this place was closer to me. I still do wish that. As it is some of the best Italian food that I have ever had. I have had several dishes here and they all have been good. I would recommend something with a white sauce of some sort as they make it fresh when you order. I don't thing you can go wrong no matter what you order. I will also recommend the cannoli. seriously take the cannoli. It is the best I have ever had. My 1st visit here was awesome and each proceeding has been good to better than good. I definitely recommend this place to a local or just someone on the highway from Dallas to Austin or the other way around.

    Worth the Stop!!!

  • *****

So awesome, great portions, big selection, great staff, authentic and reasonable pricing. Loved it, can't wait to come back!

  • *****

This has a great family atmosphere, my favorites are the chicken & shrimp Alfredo , the Philly cheesesteak, baked ziti. The cheese cake is amazing also. Prices are cheap compared to the amount of food you get. The kids also love the homemade pizza they make here. The have homemade ranch and marinara sauce which are both very flavorful, over a great place.

  • *****

Ate here on a whim while in Waco for work... And OMG it is AMAZING. The waiter we had was super nice (gave us their signature pink sauce to try), rolls were some of the best I've ever had, and I ordered the pink tortellini ( cheese stuffed with their signature pink sauce), my husband had the Murphy which he described as "bomb-diggity". Ever inexpensive and a must try while in Waco!

  • *****

Wow! Really laid back, very friendly, and the food tastes amazing! They do not skimp on the serving sizes and the prices are SO affordable!

  • *****

Wow! Excellent food, fresh made in good quantity for an amazingly good price. Bring your own bottle.

  • *****

Came here after my cousins graduation last month. it's a lil hole in the wall place, but its delicious! i had the baked tortellini, & it was Amaazedballs! The freshly baked hot rolls were on point. AND The server was very friendly...very good customer service. Id probably go back to waco just to eat here :p

  • *****

Really good Italian food. Some of the best in the area. Will easily beat chain Italian places in price and taste. The place and parking is small so it's best to come when it's not busy but even then, worth the wait.

  • *****

Wonderful Italian Food!!! Only Downfall is All of Waco knows this too. Everything I have eaten here is Amazing!!! Good Sized Portions Too. A Delicious Favorite!!! Enjoy!

  • *****

We are from Tucson AZ and found this place by reading the reviews. This place did not disappoint! Food and portions are amazing, and the employees were super friendly. We will be going back before we head home!!!

  • *****

Had supper there tonight. Had the chicken and shrimp Cardinal. It was delicious. Will be back next time in Waco. Before meal dinner rolls were huge.

  • *****

This is a great family restaurant with good food and service! We were headed home to
Ft. Worth and wanted a non-chain restaurant. This place exceeded expectations! Prices were very reasonable, especially the kids meals, and the food was delicious!

  • *****

If you are looking for the stereotypical elegant Italian restaurant this isn't the place. But if you are looking for a delicious casual BYOB place, then this is your joint! I have been coming here for years and everything is great. We always order the pink sauce to dip our bread in. The calzone is awesome, and this is still my favorite chicken parm around (tip swap spegetti for tortellini.

  • *****

Scrumptious authentic Italian food and a friendly, lively atmosphere. Parking needs improvement. Menu could use some new items bc it's been pretty much the same for years, but the food is consistently good and you know that you can count on anything you order to be delicious. The owners and staff are great, Service is pretty quick, the bread is excellent and fresh-baked. My favorites: lasagna, chicken piccata and spinach calzones. Their sauce is heavenly!

  • *****

Seriously, my boyfriend and I go here at least once every two weeks. We're addicts. The pink sauce is absolutely amazing and I can't get enough of the manicotti, but the Aristocrat is delicious as well. So many thumbs up, this place is the best.

  • *****

Our first time here. From the outside I thought I had made a mistake, once inside the service was superb, and the pizza was exceptional, exceeding our expectations. Can't wait to return and try out the pasta entree's and other dishes.

  • *****

OMG... the best food! We came from San Antonio and found this place on yelp! The prices are fantastic and the food is amazing...We will definitely be back here when in Waco...

  • *****

Best service that I have had in a while and the food was amazing! I have recommended this place to a couple friends already, would come here again! :)

  • *****

Wow!!! This place is great. Pizza was fantastic (we had a LG pepperoni pizza and a medium cheese pizza) with cheese garlic bread and a bowl of sauce. Fed 7 hungry people for under 50 dollars. You know it is a great place when the place is packed on Thursdays

  • *****

This is a local favorite. It is very inexpensive. Yet, they serve authentic Italian food. It is a mom and pop place. Done expect anything fancy. Just come hungry and expect to leave full due to their generous portions. We eat here often and love it every time. Very casual and kid friendly.

  • *****

The employees there are so sweet! The food is pretty tasty too it has a homemade taste to it.

  • *****

    Great Place
Walked in greeted with a smile and staff was friendly. Ordered the Lasagna Special which included a salad and two home made rolls. Salad was just a basic house salad but the house dressing was very good. The hot rolls were to die for and the Lasagna was a large portion and came hot to the table. A good mix of noddles, cheese, meat and sauce. Seems simple but so many places can't get the mix down and this place did!

The sauce was sweet and noddles were cooked perfectly loved the meal and its was $7.95 with Tea!!!!! DEAL O THE DAY BABY!!!

Next time down here I'll for sure stop by again

  • *****

Definitely my favorite Italian cuisine in Central Texas. Mary and family provide a fantastic warm and inviting environment with delicious menu items and great service!

  • *****

A perfect combination of great food and great service! I've tried many things on the menu, but my favorite is the classic calzone. I also love the house bread and salad! Really, all the food tastes great, is an excellent size, and all at a good price. Still trying to find an equivalent after leaving Waco.

However, be warned: the parking situation is AWFUL, especially on weekend nights. There literally is not a parking lot--you have to park along the fence, behind the building, next to the dumpster, etc. If it were anywhere else I wouldn't worry about going, but I will brave the parking for Baris.

  • *****

I was amazed at this place. The place looks like an old Pizza Hut, but it definitely had a good local feel. Our waiter did a great job of explaining things and keeping the water filled.

Pink sauce - red sauce and alfredo sauce mixed together - to some, this is the marriage of what a lot of people want - creamy and sweet.

The pasta was softer than al dente, but it was firm enough to be "speared"

So here's the deal - if someone gets a marinara or tomato sauce, you know if it's good if you wait . . . wait for what? What for it to settle and see if there is a horrible layer of oil that rises. Not for this place. The garlic rolls dipped in the tomato sauce was a great appetizer.

Our other 4 dishes came out quickly afterwards. Which it should - any good place has sauces that have been cooked for hours and should be ready. It was just putting things together, and letting the cheese melt when you put it all in the oven to a nice golden brown.

Dee's Special is like a large baked ziti - plenty of meat in it.
I got the Diavolo - it wasn't that spicy. Watch out because there is a lot of chicken - maybe 1.5 lbs.

  • *****

Great pizza place for the family! Very affordable and the waiter was very family accommodating. The pizza and spaghetti was very good, and we had nothing left!

  • *****

My favorite Italian restaurant in Waco. The place itself is nothing fancy, but the service is prompt and friendly, the food is excellent, and best of all it's reasonably priced. Things I especially like are the large drinks filled with very finely shaved ice and the freshly baked French bread. Their marinara sauce is delicious and everything I've ever ordered has been really tasty. One thing I will say is that it's very popular and may be crowded during peak times. We try to go during off hours in order to find parking (lot is small) and avoid a wait. If you want a down to earth Italian dining experience with excellent food and service, this is your place. We love this restaurant!

  • *****

The BEST Italian food I have had ever!!! Our dinner group tried everything and it all was great. Service was excellent. Will be coming back here for sure.

  • *****

Just ate dinner here on Sunday with a friend. We both got the tortellini with pink sauce and added shrimp. Absolutely amazing and HUGE portions. Also got calamari for an app.
Service was good, one of the host that took our drink order was a little awkward, but nothing bad. Our waiter (can't remember his name) was super quick and friendly. All in all 10/10!

  • *****

Have been here more times than I can even count, and absolutely love it (both take out and dine in)! The food is consistently delicious and the service is friendly and prompt. The complimentary bread they serve is warm, soft and perfect for eating with their awesome sauces. My favorite dish is the tortellini with pink sauce - the serving is large, and what I take home heats up in the oven very well. Have also tried and enjoyed the spinach lasagna, eggplant parmesan, cheese pizza (my favorite pizza in town over ALL others), and fried cheese (served with a delectable marinara). I'm a vegetarian, and am so thankful for all of the vegetarian options! The only thing I've ordered and not enjoyed are the fried mushrooms - I didn't like the batter, and people I've gone with haven't liked how thin the alfredo sauce is (but I haven't tried it yet). The prices are awesome!

The parking lot is awful and awkwardly set up. During prime busy times, they do get quite full. I don't mind that stuff though because it's so delicious, and the to go service is quick. Will be back again and again!

  • *****

Been going here for pizza nearly a year now. It has to be the best pizza in Waco. Great service always Vanessa is a great waitress. Only drawback is limited parking. David P.

  • *****

Found our go too pizza pickup place! Dough is unique compared to other pizzas tried in Waco. They go Light on the sauce. Toppings great. 3 different pizza flavors and all consistently satisfying! Very little parking and busy busy all 3 times visited.

  • *****

Absolute best Italian restaurant in Waco. Love the spaghetti, it is delicious and always cooked perfectly. The garlic rolls are really good. If you're looking for authentic Italian food at half the price of places like Olive Garden give this place a shot it is totally worth it.

  • *****

Really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere was a little noisy and crowded, but it want too bad. Food arrived quickly after ordering and was hot and delicious. However, my mother ordered the eggplant Parmesan and did not enjoy it. She said there wasn't enough seasoning. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and it was great! Very flavorful and the meatballs were moist. The restaurant could use a cosmetic update, but overall it was a nice experience.

  • *****

We took our food to-go. It was one of only a few places in Waco a vegetarian can eat. I ended up getting the spinach lasagna and a Baris salad. They were tasty and filling. The lasagna was more noodles and cheese than spinach but at least it was vegetarian.

My husband got the chicken piccata. He said it was good as well.

  • *****

    I. LOVE. ROXANNE. Our server Roxanne was such a doll! She got us seated and eating in no time. I also believe the owner of Baris is from Italy or at least is Italian. The join is a bit divey, but charming in its own way. All the placemats are maps of Italy. Food is dirt cheap! Get a heaping pile of pasta for under $7. We ordered the rolls - ORDER THE ROLLS! They're fluffy, garlic salty goodness! You won't regret it, and they're just around $3. We got the wonder white pizza, which is topped with ricotta and spinach. My only regret is that I didn't order their most popular dish-the tortellini in cream sauce. Go to Baris. Bring your family. Spend less than $30. And ask for Roxy. She's a doll.

  • *****

Absolutely love this place. Their food is so good. Don't let the building fool you, it's so worth eating here.

  • *****

I'd give them 5 stars, except for the fact that the dining room is kind of dated and worn out.

It's BYOB here, so stop at the liquor store on the way and have a good time!

    They have Pepsi products here.

    The food? Totally 5 stars.

    The calzones? HUGE

    The pastas? Amazing

The "small" 12" pizza is 8 slices and is perfect to share between two.

Their rolls are delicious, and the marinara and "pink" sauces are both delicious.

  • *****

Food is great. Staff very friendly. Atmosphere is also very pleasant. See a few reviews about being outdated, most of the places with great food are always older and outdated. I give them 5 stars for sure.

  • *****

This place is really good. It reminds me of Italian Garden from Lubbock but honestly... IG is better.
I got the lasagna and my friend got the chicken Alfredo. We both enjoyed our meals and I could eat the garlic bread alllllll day. I also got the chicken parm(I had two kids meals) and I really enjoyed that. I really love me some chicken parm! It's awesome because it's BYOB. If you're ever in Waco, this is the only place for some good Italian.

  • *****

Food-wise, I'd say nothing super special, but my first dining experience here was exceptional!! Shout out to my waitress (don't know her name).

The place is hole in the wall like, very cozy feeling, with cute ladies with deep smoky voices. ;)

First off, let's talk about food. The prices are unbeatable here! Being able to get fresh Italian food for potentially under $6 bucks?! WHAT. Unless you want to go fancy and go on the "Special" side of the menu.

We got the pasta sampler, a great option for indecisive people which had a small portion of manicotti, cannelloni, and lasagna all baked in one small baking dish. No complaints! We also were fortunately enough to try the calamari. The portion is huge with a giant bowl of marinara! Very crispy and lightly battered, would definitely order again!

Now on to why I'm giving this place 4 stars. When we came in, the place was pretty crowded but was quickly seated. It took them maybe 10 minutes to finally take our order after giving us our drinks, but we didn't mind at all. After placing our orders, we were busy chatting away that I didn't realize how much time had come by before we got our food. I did finally notice the restaurant was almost empty and that most of the people around us left already before our waitress came by our table and told us the kitchen lost our ticket and so they're JUST finally making our food. We were offered free appetizer, hence the calamari, and were finally served our food. At the end when we were wrapping up our to-go's, the waitress came by with to-go bags for our containers with free garlic bread in them! It was so nice!

I did realize we were there for over an hour so we waited at least 45 minutes for our food. I guess all of the bonus service we got is viewed as mandatory for some, but the fact that we were treated in this manner when no complaints or rude attitude from us were ever expressed (we didn't really notice or care about the slow service), I thought it was exceptionally wonderful for the waitress to take care of us like that! And the fact that the free appetizer cost more than our dish we separately ordered, wow.

  • *****

This is probably my favorite Italian place in Waco. Everything is good! The spicy spaghetti and pizza are really good. And the salads are the BEST!!! They have the best house dressing! And it's byob. Love everything about this place!

  • *****

In Waco for a couple of days, we found this place online, read reviews, and decided to give it a try. We love trying local restaurants rather than eating at chains when visiting other cities.
Glad we did! We ordered the fried mushrooms, eggplant florentine, and a pizza. Mushrooms were great but the eggplant florentine was fabulous! Pizza was tasty but could have been baked just a little longer (IMO).
Our waiter, Heath, was fantastic and very attentive even though the restaurant was busy. Great experience!

  • *****

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Waco because their complimentary rolls (free with entree purchase) and pink sauce are absolute perfection! Pro tip: order a side of pink sauce for the rolls. My favorite thing to order is the Chicken Florentine because it's a pink sauce dish and is a big enough portion for 3 days of food depending on how much you eat so it's definitely worth the money. The inside and parking lot are always extremely crowded so carpool if possible. Also it's BYOB yay!

  • *****

One of the better cheap eats in town. Super congested with college students. I love to get there food to-go.

  • *****

Awesome food. Very good spaghetti and meat balls and the rolls are to die for. Real butter. Highly recommend. Will be back.
    Came back. Recommend the Lasagne.

  • *****

Stopped by a drive through from Dallas to home. Not far off 35, this gem smelled of heaven before I even walked in. I'm a native New Yorker living in Texas and can honestly say this was a true taste of home straight from Little Italy. I had the chicken parmagiana, the beading was crisp and the meat inside was moist and tender. Perfection. My wife and kids has spaghetti and meatballs, which were juicy and delicious. They sell pizza by the slice, something I've never seen outside NY, that was so much like being home, I bought a pie to take home. Prices were impossible to beat for the quality. I will make this place a must stop every trip I take to Dallas.

  • *****

Amazing!!! The food was great, the service was really good too!! We were in town for a college visit and found this little gem!! Prices were sooo reasonable and portions were perfect! The rolls...oh my oh my !! Great little Italian place!!

  • *****

Locally owned restaurant with great prices. The food is good. The restaurant is also BYOB. It is usually my option when I want something cheaper than Olive Garden. Try the Diablo plate extra spicy!

  • *****

Excellent Italian restaurant with excellent prices! It was crowded so parking was difficult but still worth it!!

  • *****

Most amazing Italian I have ever ate! Lasagna, alfredo, bread, cantaloni, manicotti, grilled shrimp and Hawaiian pizza was fantastic!!

  • *****

The best Italian I've ever had! We came on a whim and it was so delicious. My husband got the sampler and I got the chicken parm but honestly I don't think we could have went wrong with any dish. Our waiter was so nice and not bothersome and our food came out quickly and hot. I wish I could eat there every week!

  • *****

We had the samplers, spaghetti, salad and the bread. The food and service was
Delicious and if we are ever in Waco we will eat here again.

Best garlic rolls I have ever had in my entire life!! Hot, fresh out of the oven, high rise garlic fluffy heaven:)
The pasta dishes are cheap and for the price very good, could use a little more seasoning but delicious nonetheless. I recommend coming early for dinner otherwise you will have a wait

  • *****

They have a large menu with VERY reasonable prices. The food was good but their homemade rolls were the best! Heath was our waiter and he was super friendly and attentive. The physical building makes this place a true hole in the wall, but my sister and I were both happy we tried something new.

My boyfriend and I were visiting Waco and craving some pasta. Found this place and only read good things. Parking was difficult but so worth the hassle! Zach was our server and was very attentive. He suggested the Florentine for my boyfriend and he loved it! I had the chicken fettuccine, was very creamy! The rolls were the best! Definitely recommend

  • *****

It speaks for its self when u go in .. I've never been more satisfied in my life hands down best place in Waco !!!

  • *****

Went here for a quick Pizza and it was great pizza for a great price. Not you regular chain type of cardboard pizza taste.

  • *****

Sooo good! Try the pasta sampler and fried mushrooms!! Also tried the parm chicken and it was. Amazing! The service is awesome, and super friendly!

  • *****

This is high quality food for low prices 10/10 definitely recommend for date night/ lunch. The service was good and the rolls are A1.

  • *****

Delicious dinner!! Was very disappointed in how long it took for our food to come out. We waited an hour and the server never stopped by to check on us. We will go back because it was that good. Fingers crossed that it doesn't take that long to get our food again.

  • *****

This place was packed on Friday night! My spaghetti with pink sauce and side of veggies was absolutely delicious. My husband's pizza with veggies was really good too. They give you rolls with the pasta dish- nothing amazing but still good.

Parking can be a little tough since it's a small parking lot. Customer service was pretty good, we had the waiter checking on us frequently. We will definitely be coming back :)

  • *****

One of the best Italian places I've been too. The prices are very fair as well. The food comes out quick and the service is superb. I got the pepperoni calzone and it was heaven on a plate. My girlfriend got a tortellini pasta and that was excellent as well. Definitely a must have!

  • *****

This was an excellent visit with quality food, the only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the service when I first arrived was awful. It took about 10 minutes before I was given a drink and serviced. The service was extremely poor but the food was excellent. If you can endure being ignored for a bit it is worth a try at least once. I probably won't return because I love good food but hate food service. Not knocking the food at all especially their delicious bread.

  • *****

This was a chance stop back in May and now that we moved here it is going to be a regular for us. Great food, great service,

  • *****

Always busy, obscenely good, super cheap. The pastas and the bread are amazing. I haven't tried the pizza, but I've been told it's great. BYOB, so bring a bottle of wine!

  • *****

Our second time here, only because we don't live here. This place is awesome. We got the pasta sampler and it is delicious. The rolls they serve are also good. We gave it 5 stars because the food really taste great...

  • *****

This was my husband and I's first time in Waco. Our first stop was lunch here at Bari's, and it was great!!! My husband ordered the Pasta Sampler and I ordered the Baked Cheese Tortellini (Sunday lunch special). The food was sooo good, and my husband loved the rolls.
The service was pretty good. We got a bit worried at first because it was taking a bit for our waiter, but another waiter noticed and came and took our order for us. All in all, we would definitely come again.

  • *****

The food was great and cheap--perfect for college students. Its a hole in the wall place, and there is almost no parking (ever), but way worth the walk from down the street. The wait staff could definitely be better, but its also always busy. I've brought my mom and grandparents here for dinners in Waco, and they all love it.

Always get the bread. The peach tea is good. The eggplant parmesan is delicious. BYOB.

  • *****

This is a casual relaxed restaurant. The food is really good and the bread is excellent. The server was very good and friendly. We are very glad we found this place and highly recommend it.

  • *****

We came to Waco to experience the Magnolia Trail, so we needed some place to eat on a Sunday night. After searching for places through magazines, maps, and Yelp, we decided on Baris, and we were happy with what we received.

The service was very friendly, and the portions are very big. The food also tastes homemade, making it unlike any other chain restaurant. I highly suggest taking a stop by Baris for a memorable experience!

The meatball sub, spaghetti with meat sauce, and pizza were all delicious!

  • *****

This small, family owned restaurant is delicious! I have gone here with my family for years and they never fail us! It's good for dates, family get together, and just about anything!!

I have not tried much on the menu, but my favorite or the few things i have eaten, is the Tortellini Alfredo. It is served as cheese filled noodles with steamy Alfredo sauce over top. It has a great flavor and is very filling!

The pizza there also is amazing! You can order by the slice, or a whole pizza. At Baris they use ricotta on the pizza, which gives it a unique flavor l compared to other places that serve pizza!

Overall, this place is family friendly. It isn't over priced. Sometimes there is a small wait, but it's worth it!

  • *****

The ambiance in this little restaurant is homey and cozy- the perfect place to enjoy friends and family. I recommend Baris's catering options for large groups, as they provide huge quantities of delicious Italian food as well as delicious salad and fresh bread. I am not a pasta lover, but most people that take delight in that sort of meal certainly admire Baris for its high quality pastas. Thank ya, Baris.

  • *****

I love Baris. The place seems to be small from the outside look but it's a good size. The portion here is big, one plate can last me 2 meals. My favorite is the low fat spaghetti with either chicken or shrimp. Tiramisu at Baris is the best in Waco. Sometimes they run out of tiramisu if you come late.

  • *****

I would argue best pasta in Waco. Love the family atmosphere, the food is fantastic. Highly recommend the garlic bread, get some marinara on the side to dunk it in. The spaghetti and meatballs is my go to, they are always so good. My wife swears by their pasta vodka sauce, and I would agree. Parking is a little crazy at times, but trust me, it's worth finding a spot and coming in for some great food.

  • *****

Amazing food! The pink sauce is really good and so is the diavolo. Just the right amount of spice. Had it with the meatballs, which were perfect. Also got the pink sauce cheese tortellini - so good!!! Eat it with the meatballs for another amazing combo. My husband had the chicken parm and he ate every bite. Don't waste room on an appetizer - eat the bread. :)

  • *****

The best Italian in waco (not many places but it's still good). Dirt cheap prices as well. Can get busy at times, and the parking situation is not good, but the food and service is worth it. Would recommend.

  • *****

Amazing!! We got here 30 mins before they closed and the service was great. Food came super fast! We got the Lasagna and Chicken Parm. Salad was great too! Best Italian I've had in a while.

  • *****

The BEST Italian food I have ever had. I wish I could give it 10 stars. The Dee's Special.... Trust me.

  • *****

RECOMMEND: Pink sauce any pasta dish. Get shrimp instead of chicken.

Such a favorite of mine when I used to be a student back at Baylor.

All I have to say is that this is a great cheap place to find decent Italian food! You must get the pink sauce with the bread. Honestly, any of their pink sauce pasta dishes are great. It may not be the best Italian food you've ever had, but the cheap price makes up for it all. You can spend around $5-6 for the smaller pasta dishes (great for lunch) or $10-12 for dinner dishes which are large! My only criticism is that the chicken is a bit dry in most of their pasta dishes. I would recommend getting shrimp instead of chicken.

  • *****

Really good Italian food. The prices were very reasonable and the service was excellent. I had the Chicken Parmigiana with their signature pink sauce and it was delectable. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

  • *****

Good Italian food at reasonable prices. The restaurant is BYOB, which in my book is a plus! Last time there I had the Diavolo with chicken which I enjoyed, but their best dish is the Tortellini Alfredo. Service has been above average each time I have gone there.

I would go back to this restaurant more often but parking is a real mess. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

  • *****

This place was amazing! The waitress Patty makes you feel right at home. We found it here on yelp and we are so glad we gave it a try! Possibly one of our favorite meals throughout this trip! Be prepared, HUGE portions, full of flavor and at such good price ! We had dinner twice as we took our leftovers to the hotel! The roll is amazing and the calamari was such a huge yummy portion. Crispy calamari , tender and so flavorful! Yes yes yes to this place. We'll sure be going back when in Waco! Definitely give it a try and make sure to be hungry!

  • *****

Baris was good and a fun little family atmosphere! I wasn't the biggest fan of the famous rolls - they seemed kind of burnt and were really hard. The chicken parm was great and a side of veggies were great! The service needed a little bit of help but sometimes people just have a bad night.

  • *****

My colleagues and I came here for dinner tonight. The wait staff were professional and courteous. I ordered a side garden salad and spinach Florentine pizza. To our surprise they brought us a basket of yeast rolls and they were DELICIOUS! My salad was average and the pizza was delicious. It took a little while to receive our bill but everything else was good.

  • *****

My family and I just ate here. The food: both pasta and pizza were really good. Great service as well. Tip: the parking is terrible and DONT park at the adjacent Mexican restaurant. They will tow.

  • *****

First place in Waco for the TCU game. When your girlfriend wants Italian and desires nostalgia she end takes you to Baris.

When it was decided that we would not share a pizza, I had to go for the Chicken Parm! I also ordered a coffee. Baris isn't FINE dining, but it is fine dining. I took a look from her when she saw I ordered coffee because she desired Common Grounds, but I denied her this pleasure until after the shellacking of Baylor.

The Chicken Parm arrived, it just hit the spot, like food coma and deliciousness. She ordered the lasagna and it looked delicious, but her report was a heavy dose of ricotta and I am just not that kind of guy. I want BEEF, mozzarella and spared use of ricotta, but that stopped me from stealing a bite.

And then you get served with an inexpensive bill!

  • *****

This restraint is amazing!! Super cheap, big proportions, and you can bring your own wine! All of the food is amazing and there is something for everyone I would 100% come back!

  • *****

Great food, a little crowded and hard to access if you have someone in a wheelchair or walker but worth it. Parking is a disaster though.

  • *****

How could you not love Baris. Everyone's favorite hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant. Absolutely fantastic prices and generous portions that are delicious. It's not a coincidence that the locals eat here... come try it! You won't regret it.

  • *****

We're new to this area and decided to follow the recommendation of a friend to eat here. We're so glad we listened. It was a special dinner being that it was in celebration of my little girls birthday and all she requested Italian food for dinner. This place is small but packs a big punch. The food was amazing, and our server was the best we've ever had!! He made sure to make the dinner special for her, he and the rest of the staff made her a little birthday card and gave her a choice of birthday cheesecake! You don't find too many places that go the extra mile anymore.

We all loved our food, and the birthday girl, well all she wanted was fettuccine alfredo, she ordered the the regular potion and ate almost all of it, she said it was fantastic! We plan on making this place a regular for us!

  • *****

The best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. Sometimes less is more. The building is small, there's not a lot of parking space, but the food is wonderful. The portions are perfect. The price is perfect. Our servers have always been very friendly and attentive. There are a lot of different choices on the menu and all for a decent price. It's always BYOB, which I enjoy. This place beats Olive Garden ANY DAY!

  • *****

Generous quantities at good quality for a reasonable price. Baris is a hole in the wall restaurant that will satisfy any of your carb cravings. I love the chicken florentine here, as well as the classic spaghetti and meatballs. Their bread is delicious as well, and I like to mix the red sauce and ranch together to create my own dipping sauce for the bread. The servers are friendly, although when it gets busy they don't check on you very often. Even when it gets busy, they seat their customers quickly. I have brought my family here for dinner a few times and groups (6-10) aren't a problem.
Parking, as stated in past reviews, is very difficult to find, and unless you're good at reverse/parallel parking/getting out of tight spaces, you may need to park further away.

  • *****

Food was good , portions were big, and servers were nice. Our biggest concern was whether our car would be dinged up as the parking lot is TIGHT.

It's nice that they even had pizza by the slice option for the Kids!

  • *****

Holy lasagna! This place is so good! I had the pasta sampler and it was great. My fav was probably the lasagna though. My husband got the fee special with pink sauce and no ricotta cheese and he loved it! And he isn't even that big of an Italian food fan like me! We are from out of town and I'm just wishing there was a Baris in Tyler!! And it's cheap too!

  • *****

BYOB- why did nobody tell me? I loved this place, it just became my favorite in Waco. The bread was fresh. Loved the cannelloni. Delicious sauce, delicious filling, bubbly cheese.... great environment, great price. I will be back and will not forget to BYOB.

Plate of delicious pasta for less than $7.

  • *****

I had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm. It wasn't too busy, but I can definitely see how parking could be an issue if it was. Very casual environment with pleasant staff.

The appetizers aren't as pricey as most Italian restaurants. They are, however, served on paper plates. We had the fried mushrooms, which came out out the fried and clearly were given no time to rest. I bit into one, got grease all down my shirt, and burned my mouth. The waitress gave us no warning about the temperature. They did taste good, once they cooled down.

Main courses were better and everyone in my group seemed happy with them. I was glad that they offered a spaghetti with just herbs and olive oil since I am dairy sensitive. The price for the amount and quality of the food is surprisingly low.

Don't let the outside of this place fool you- great food and definitely a locals spot.

  • *****

I looked on Yelp to find a good date spot for my boyfriend and I. Baris seemed to have good reviews and be within our budget, so we have it a shot. We took the advice of the other reviewers and got the pink sauce. I got the pasta sampler and my boyfriend got the tortellini with chicken. The pink sauce is PERFECT. Just enough heartiness. Not too tomato-y. The bread rolls they give you are great with the pink sauce, too, but are also good with just some butter. They taste like they are used from pizza dough, which makes them nice and fluffy inside and crispy and flaky on the crust. The sampler was so full of cheese and sauce; I loved every bite.
The place was super crowded by the time we left, which proved difficult to get out of the small parking lot. They definitely need more parking to meet their needs.
Definitely a great place. I would definitely recommend it.

Had to find a lunch spot to meet some folks in Waco, and found this little das gem on yelp. We were supposed to meet our folks from Dallas there at 1. We sat down and ordered drinks. While we waited for the rest of our party, they brought out amazing garlic rolls with butter. Around this time, we found out that the rest of our party was running an hour late. We left to run an errand, and told them we'd be back in an hour. They didn't charge us for anything!
This place has that small town from a past generation feel. Everything was like 5 bucks! I had the lasagna, which was fantastic. I also really liked the crushed ice in their beverages. If anyone knows of a place like this in Austin, please let me know!!

  • *****

So good, we were in Waco for 2 days and ate dinner here both times! Like all said, it was crowded constantly but the tables turn over quick - the owners are legit Italian and sit in the back doing paperwork or taking phone orders.

The tomato sauce here is the highlight - rich, robust, it is almost as good as Prego (kidding!). Seriously, combine that with the out-of-this-world rolls (you get 2 per entree ordered!) and it was a magical combination. The pastas were great ranging from the diavolo (I can handle spicy and it was spicy!), chicken parm, eggplant parm (my wife is picky about her eggplant parm and liked Baris' rendition!).

Our kids thought there was too much cheese on the pizza, we would return to try one of the more traditional pizza's next time. A great find in Waco, to top it all off it won't break the bank and is BYOB!

  • *****

This is a little gem in Waco! We were in town for the Silo District Marathon, and we wanted pasta for our pre-race dinner. Yelp steered us to Baris, and it was a great find. The place gets busy on regular weekends, but it was packed the night before the race. We waited 30-45 minutes to be called inside. Despite the full house, our service was really good. The homemade rolls are giant and delicious! We all enjoyed our food: chicken parmigiana, spinach rolletini, pasta sampler (lasagna, cannelloni, & manicotti), and spaghetti with marinara. The prices are extremely reasonable. It's nice to know it's BYOB. Should we find ourselves back in Waco we'll bring a bottle of wine or some beer to enjoy with dinner.

Pros: great food, good service, inexpensive

Cons: limited parking (don't park at the Mexican place next door or you might get towed), very little seating outside for your wait time, restrooms need updating & air freshener, the line to pay is crowded when the restaurant is busy

  • *****

The food was great. Very good quality for a very cheap price. We got the spinach pizza and baked tortellini and both came out quick. The large pizza was plenty large.

  • *****

This is my favorite restaurant In Waco. Everything is tasty it is cheap and good service

  • *****

We wanted pizza and chose Baris. Very friendly staff as soon as we entered. Our waiter was friendly and professional. We landed up getting chicken tortellini and a calzone with everything. Sorry, the waiter recommended and I don't know the proper names. It did not disappoint. The pink sauce was fantastic as elk as the bread the calzone was made with. We went for lunch and was waited on right away. The only drawback, the area near restrooms is used as a storage and bathrooms could be updated. Maybe a privacy screen or shelving? If it wasn't for these two things, 5 stars easily! The food was fantastic and I would go again!

  • *****

Seemingly small and very unassuming on the outside, but inside is where the magic is! Spacious dining area, pleasant staff, cheap prices and y'all, amazing food!!

Freshly baked, massive rolls that are crisp on top and soft and fluffy on the inside, are served complimentary while you wait for your entree. They have an extensive menu with a wide variety of options, so it took awhile for me to peruse and decide. I ended up ordering the pasta sampler... it was insanely good. It came out piping hot and well-seasoned, cheesy and saucy... it was just a perfect plate of food. There were a total of 8 people in our dining party who all ordered different items from the menu; I learned from their feedback that you apparently cannot go wrong with anything you choose. The service and the food were wonderful. There were only two things that I didn't find so wonderful, however:

    1. Their parking lot is really small and pretty tight when busy
    2. It's located in Waco and I live in Austin!!!

  • *****

Great food, quick friendly service, fair prices. Parking is scarce but worth the effort. I got the spinach calzone and loved it! So big! And I took half home with me.

  • *****

If I could count the times over the years that I've dined at Good ole Baris. Solid Italian food. The pink sauce is money! I have no clue what's put in it. I got the chicken fettucini with pink sauce last night. Good portion sizes, good taste. Rolls are tasty. It's BYOB. Not into the crushed ice they put in the fountain drinks but the actual food. Nine times out of ten pleased with my order. I've graduated Baylor about 4 years and still have no clue how to pronounce the name of the restaurant everyone says it a lil differently.

  • *****

Baris is an absolutely charming family-owned restaurant in an excellent location in Waco. The parking is very limited, so it is important to come at an early hour or park nearby. Cool thing was the BYOB! We were able to bring a bottle of our favorite wine and enjoy it with the meal. They were even kind enough to bring us glasses and uncork the bottle for us.

The wait staff is marvelous and very attentive. The restaurant, though a tight squeeze, is very clean. It helps when you're new to the restaurant so that you can peek over and see what amazing dishes they have to offer.

Their menu selection is vast and very, very reasonably priced. It honestly makes you want to come back every day and just take a tour of Italy. Rolls came out fresh and piping hot - definitely try the dinner rolls with pink sauce. Oh my goodness... so good! I had the Dee's Special and it was amazing. I didn't think I could finish the entire thing, but I made it a mission... and succeeded. I can't wait to go back and try something else (as much as I'd just go ahead and grab Dee's Special again).

Definitely give this place a shot! You will not regret it!

  • *****

A Waco treasure. I took my wife for dinner on Valentine's Day. Our server, Tyler, was attentive and prompt with our orders. The servings were huge. Enough for dinner and plenty to take home for another meal. The fresh baked rolls were amazing. Certainly, crowded for the holiday but well worth the wait.

  • *****

The best Italian restaurant that I have had the pleasure to eat at. Excellent pricing, portions, and service. Family owned and operated, if you have never eaten there you have got to stop in. You can bring your own bottle of wine as well. It's the perfect place to take your family or enjoy a date. From the time Baris opens, until they close they are packet. Fortunately we've never had to wait for a table for more than 10 mins. or so. Dining in or take out, you've got to try their all homemade Italian food.

  • *****

Delicious homemade Italian food! This place is a must try. Portions are fulfilling. Prices are reasonable. You won't be disappointed

  • *****

Super chill atmosphere with great waiters. The food is awesome and really cheap. Great place for college dinner. The bread they bring you when you order is amazing.

It Was a girls night out. Seated us in an area that would allow Us to be our usual loud selves. Our Waitress was Awesome. Wish I could remember her name so you could ask for her. She kept us satisfied with Charm, politeness and near perfect customer Service, no one is perfect. In addition the food Was very good and prepared promptly . We like to have our wine, which they don't serve but allowed us to BYOB. The Waitress even prepared our leftovers for carry out. The prices for the delicious food and great customer service are very reasonable and the portions were more than enough since most of us took food home. Not a romantic atmosphere, but we weren't looking for romance. We all had a pleasant time and did not get asked to leave due our loud talking and laughing.
